About the Owner
John Bascombe is a semi‑retired, self‑made Barbadian builder, electrician, and property owner whose life has been shaped by humble beginnings, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to quality living. His journey is one of resilience, skill, and quiet determination – the kind of story that doesn’t just build apartments, but builds legacy.
From his early years, John learned to work with his hands, mastering the trades that would one day allow him to transform entire buildings from the inside out. Every skill he carries today — carpentry, electrical work, plastering, structural repair – was earned through decades of experience, problem‑solving, and a deep belief that anything can be rebuilt with patience and care.
That belief is what gave birth to Phoenix Rising.
When John acquired the original apartment block, it was a tired structure at the end of its life cycle. Instead of walking away, he chose to rebuild it – not with contractors, but with his own hands. What followed was a multi-year complete reconstruction – done not by contractors, but by John’s own hands and supported by skilled craftsmen when necessary.
